How Squirt Chain Lube Optimizes Your Performance on Long Rides

In ultra-endurance racing, efficiency and reliability often make the difference between finishing and dropping out. For cyclists tackling very long distances, choosing the right chain lube is essential. That’s where Squirt Long Lasting Chain Lube, an innovative wax-based lubricant, makes all the difference by improving performance while significantly reducing maintenance.

Squirt's main advantage lies in its wax-based technology. Unlike traditional oil-based lubricants, which attract dust and dirt to form an abrasive paste that increases friction, Squirt is a wax-in-water emulsion that dries completely after application.

This layer of dry wax offers several benefits to endurance athletes:

  • significantly reduces friction for more efficient pedaling;

  • extends the transmission's service life;

  • prevents dirt buildup, ensuring smooth and quiet operation for hundreds of kilometers.

Thanks to its long-lasting formula, Squirt keeps your chain clean kilometer after kilometer.

An Essential First Application

To get the most out of Squirt's performance, the first app is a crucial step.

The chain must be completely degreased. All traces of oil, grease, or old lubricant must be removed so that the wax can adhere directly to the metal and penetrate effectively all the way to the chain’s pins, rollers, and bushings.

Once the chain is clean and completely dry, apply two coats of lubricant:

  1. Apply a first coat while pedaling backward;

  2. Let it dry completely (the liquid will change from a milky white color to clear);

  3. Then apply a second coat to ensure optimal protection.

Minimal maintenance for maximum performance

One of the great advantages of Squirt is that it requires very little maintenance.

For optimal performance, we recommend applying the lubricant the day before your ride. This allows all the water to evaporate, leaving only the protective wax inside the links when you set out.

You only need to reapply the product when you start to hear a dry rattling sound, usually after 50 to 160 km, depending on conditions.

Maintenance is very simple:

  • Wipe the chain with a dry cloth;

  • Apply just one more coat of Squirt.

Once you switch to Squirt, there's no need to degrease your chain. Unlike traditional lubricants, it doesn't leave a black residue. If any small wax residues appear, simply brush them off with a dry brush.

You may also notice small black particles coming off the chain, especially when using a stationary bike. This is completely normal: these particles are the result of excess wax and trapped impurities being shed.

Finally, Squirt Chain Lube is a biodegradable emulsion made from wax and water. The wax residue left behind in the environment is harmless, allowing you to ride while leaving nothing but the trail of your passage.
